COUNTERFEIT REALITY

It happened one night when I was talking to the doctor whilst on duty as a nurse at a psychiatric hospital. We were stood in a long corridor and saw an unfamiliar frail little old lady walk towards us and go into the toilet.

It puzzled us both and puzzled us even more when she failed to come out. Worried that something could have happened to her we searched the toilets. But she wasn't there and it would have been impossible for anyone to have got out through the window.

Do you think that, like the other reader who wrote about the railway toilet, we saw a phantom.

Perhaps like Arnold Swartznegger in the movies the little old lady used suction pads to scale the tilled wall, tore off the grill from the air vent and made her escape by squeezing through the building's labyrinth of air ducts.

Or just maybe she was a phantom....
